The origins of Fake News

Sharyl Attkisson, five-time Emmy Award winner and recipient of the Edward R. Murrow award for investigative reporting explains it all in a Tedx Talk.

"Sharyl Attkisson. Sharyl Attkisson. Investigative Journalist who tries to give you information others don't want you to have. What you do with it is your own business. Do your own research. Seek advice from those you trust. Make up your own mind. " She sounds like a superhero for those that are hungry for the truth. And, for those who hate Hillary Clinton.

So anyone that wants to whine and cry over anyone else doing that best be with me on calling them all out. And YES I have called trump out over his attacks on news he just dod not like.

The "real" origin of fake news with the infamous Powell Memo:

This gave us right wing talk radio, right wing think tanks, Fox news, online dreck like Crowder and Milo. Gave us Citizens United with bought, stealth, corrupted judges.

Fake news gave us Obama being a marxist, the media having a liberal bias, colleges are pc factories, Democrats are way too the left. Complete twaddle.

LOL brack bragged about being one. he when to great lengths to lay it all out in his book "Dreams of My Father" (and the title alone--knowing who his father was (either bio or step) --tell us the story).

The media has a liberal bias.

Collages ARE liberally slanted. (I love the spin the left uses that more educated people are liberal--but refuse to even address the chicken and egg question)

Some dems are far left *at least by US standards* Some Reps are far right...

What is funny and scary is how some will say and seemingly believe that the LEFT is always (Or almost always Correct) and the RIGHT is always (almost) wrong. To the point of inventing things to cover up that most of the civil rights improvements were born of the Republicans,

Your video is about creating propaganda, the one I posted is about the use of the phrase "fake news".
Two related but DIFFERENT topics.

But if you want to steer the aware from the topic, one of Obama's last acts as President was to legalize the use of propaganda in the U.S. as part of the N.D.A.A.

Yes. My point. You are changing the subject which is: the origins and use of the phrase "fake news", it is NOT about the use of fake news itself.

Sharyl Attkisson, five-time Emmy Award winner and recipient of the Edward R. Murrow award for investigative reporting explains it all in a Tedx Talk.

.

7:17 "Those who most loudly denounce fake news are typically the ones disseminating it."

.

The loudest denouncer of fake news today, the one Sharyl said made a hostile takeover of fake news almost immediately after the above, is Donald Trump.

.

When the definition of fake news meanders from alien pregnancies to when main stream media all agree on something because of a hidden agenda, despite the number of Emmys and Murrows, you start to sound more like a copy writer about alien pregnancies than an award winning investigative journalist.

.

Is fake news the errors she sprinkled in as examples? Or is it currated news diseminated by a cross media hidden agenda funded by secret organisations maniulating us all? These are two very different things. As the latter is her conclusion but the former is her "proof" along the way, then it all has the aura of manipulation. As she said everything put in front of us is done so for a reason - what is Sharyl's?

.

See how easy it is - the importance of this message is you should seek to understand and you can only do this by analysing what anyone says and by looking at all sides of the argument. If fake news is just errors made by sloppy journalism, this will always exist and curration and due process is the best defence against this. If bias from supporters (open and hidden) or by that outlet's culture is tainting the news, this too can be easliy countered by using a broad range of sources. If this is just sites that are clearly biased in the same way you are e.g. a far right person only listening to Trump, Fox and Brietbart and their ilk, you have failed. When a Tedx Talk about fake news fails to use the clear fake news stories spread by Trump but instead concludes with a media wide conspiracy theory, you have to question why you think it "explains it all".

it is funny that we have these emoticons and some of them are used in a funny or manner but then some of them can be used in a manner that is not within the org rules. But some assume that since they are available then we can use them to make insults or threats or to harass others. I would say using them is just like saying whatever it is they convey...so use them with that and the rules in mind.

Now I am sure you do not literally mean you want to hit me in the head with a brick. but still maybe think more before you post one with a violent message. Ecp in a discussion where there is a major disagreement.

You're playing the never-sinning martyr role very well. But, you save those phoney tears for some-
one else not named "Dasein", Only. What you said, which prompted my reply, was risible and most
deserving, metaphorically, of a brick being thrown upside your head.

but what I said was true and is at least as well supported as what 2F said. did you read Dreams? he was all about marxism and communist....he was so much a wannabe marxist.

but hey if you say he is not okay... i do not agree but I am not going to threaten you...metaphorically or otherwise.

Lol and you also think you can tell me what to not say? after you threaten to murder me! Where is that FBI #! LOL

What I said was just more of an observation. One of the VERY few times I have had a post deleted was for misusing the emoticons... so I saw some deleted the other day for the same thing.

I've had a bunch of complaints and snips of emoticons I posted. I think they're silly little cartoon emoji's, available for use by the org, and it's silly to be offended by them. Yet, some are. For some reason we have 2 or 3 middle finger emoticons but if I use one the odds are it will be snipped. Whatevs. That's where we are apparently.

You're right, Only. I should have carefully explained why I posted that emoticon because you said
more than one thing in that post which I found risible. This is what I thought was utterly ludicrous
and inane:

The media has a liberal bias.

Collages ARE liberally slanted. (I love the spin the left uses that more educated people are liberal--but refuse to even address the chicken and egg question)

What is funny and scary is how some will say and seemingly believe that the LEFT is always (Or almost always Correct) and the RIGHT is always (almost) wrong. To the point of inventing things to cover up that most of the civil rights improvements were born of the Republicans

These three statements are borne out of your own biases and lack of broad perspective. I don't care
what you think about Obama. And, I never said anything about what you can or can't say and I never
threatened to murder you.

rolleyes

You're simply ridiculous, and that's why I posted the "oops - brick upside yo' head" emoticon.

That's not what DJ is saying. He's complaining because he thinks the ability to post emoticons
should have some eternal application - regardless of context - simply because they are available
to be used as he doesn't think they are worth taking an offense. If DJ understood that the con-
text of him employing those "fuck you" emoticons is sometimes in what is likely a heated discussion
where tempers may be running hot, especially when followed by "fuck off" or "kiss my ass" or
something along those lines, could be deemed as inappropriate then he wouldn't be chafing at some
of his posts being snipped. If DJ used those "fuck you" emoticons with a pal he has on the Org
and the context of that application was to be playful or joking where the reader is able to decipher
some kind of frivolty or jovial nature by their use, and was likeminded as DJ so that s/he didn't
think the "fuck you" emoticon was offensive, then those posts probably wouldn't be snipped. DJ
doesn't understand how context impacts how his posts are edited by moderators and read by his
debating opponent. I mean, he tells people "fuck all y'all" in his signature for what he perceives
as a slight fer chrissakes!

You replying "yup it is about context!" reveals you didn't understand his post at all, even though
you are right - everything is about context.
