Federal Employees Barred From Discussing Trump’s Impeachment at Work

Employees of the federal government were warned this week not to talk about the “resistance” or the potential impeachment of President Trump while at work. If they do, they run the risk of violating the Hatch Act, which bars federal employees from engaging in partisan, political activity while on the job.

The guidance was handed down Tuesday by the Office of Special Counsel (OSC), which enforces the Hatch Act and has nothing to do with that other special counsel that’s been in the news so much lately. The new rule says that “‘resistance,’ ‘#resist,’ and similar terms have become inextricably linked with the electoral success (or failure) of the president.” Therefore, they shouldn’t be used at work by federal employees.

Same goes for advocating for, or against, Trump’s impeachment.

I did not see where Trump was pushing this idea. It seems more like a bit of creative fantasy by Adam K. Raymond. Certainly, a warning is within the rights of the government. The individuals can take it for what it is. The so-called "chilling effect" is not a major issue. Furthermore, they have a clear right to bar such conduct when using government assets.

I am not sure what the structure looks like. I know where I work I can not bad mouth my boss and call for her to be fired or openly hope she loses her job. Is my free speech being violated? Yes working for the government is a little different but not so much as to be wholly invalid.

And were you just as offended (as the article points out) at other threats to envoke Hatch?

Did you defend Trump when he was under fire for announcing a job report a few hours early?

All that said: I tend to agree that people are in general protected from talking about it at work.

I did 21 years in the Air Force and still work for te Federal Govt. That whole story is untrue. You have complete freedom of speech but obviously you can't threaten POTUS. And again, impeachment is very specific. You my not like the man but I don't think he did anthing close to an impeachable offense. Being crude isn't impeachable. If you're looking for a true debate, don't write that kind of headline. Civility

Apparently there is a law. (it's from 1939)
And this will be enforced.

funny enough there exist thousands of laws. but there was no "reminder" about those

funny enough the "reminder" did explicitly target terms like "resitance" or "resist". it failed to point out that the use of let's say "Make America Great Again" would also not be allowed. so the note itself is a partisan political activity, already with the 2020 elections in mind

the note also says simple DISCUSSIONS could be illegal. and that is not covered by the Hatch Act

as some experts agree, it is "breaking new ground and is going to far"

and that is how it is wrong

any more questions?

People EARN respect. Almost every democrat and liberal here has paid RESPECT to McCain, and Bush an have been respeful to othter republicans who are restpectful such as Romney. The right wing response to this was belittlement.

That shows the current state of the righ wing and republicans. Not even talking about all the blatant election fraud or racism.

I encourage EVERYONE here and everywhere to be as disrespectful to this orange piece of shit president as possible. He has earned it. Treat him like he treats Americans. Treat him like trash. He is trash and hopefully he ends up in jail.

Chief of staff Kelly expected to resign soon, no longer on speaking terms with Trump

https://www.cnn.com/2018/...index.html

Washington (CNN)John Kelly is expected to resign as White House chief of staff in the coming days, two sources familiar with the situation unfolding in the West Wing tell CNN.

Seventeen months in, Kelly and President Donald Trump have reached a stalemate in their relationship and it is no longer seen as tenable by either party. Though Trump asked Kelly over the summer to stay on as chief of staff for two more years, the two have stopped speaking in recent days.
Trump is actively discussing a replacement plan, though a person involved in the process said nothing is final right now and ultimately nothing is final until Trump announces it. Potential replacements include Nick Ayers, Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff, who is still seen as a leading contender.
Kelly has been on the verge of resigning or being fired before, only to bounce back every time. But aides feel the relationship can't be salvaged this time. Trump is becoming increasingly concerned about Democrats taking over the House in January, and has privately said he needs someone else to help shape the last two years of his first term, which he predicts will be politically focused. He has complained repeatedly that Kelly is not politically savvy.
The expected departure would end a tumultuous tenure for Kelly, who was brought on to bring order to the White House but whose time as chief of staff has often been marked by the same infighting and controversy that has largely defined Trump's presidency from its beginning. Many of the storms in which Kelly became embroiled were by his own making.
CNN reported last month that Trump was considering potential replacements for several senior positions in his administration as part of a post-midterms staff shakeup.

In the end, after Trump is in indicted, we as a nation are going to need to figure out what to do when a major suposed news network acts as state tv for one political party and was complicit in covering up his crimes from the American public.

Same with CNN when they failed to cover Bernie Sanders for the benefit of Hillary and the ratings of Trump drew.

The free market cannot solve these things, it encourages it. legislation helps kee people in check.
