when talking about the Paisley Park issue there were 3 different people/groups

.

Kirk
Paisley Park employees

the Revolution

.

It is clear that JJ should know why that would not be an appropriate place to 'discuss' stuff, and the cyberspace attacks since Sept 2016 are clearly the reason 'the Revolution didn't want any contact' at that time.

.

Point is the Revolution did nothing to her. Just like BrownMark said.

laurarichardson said:

She is saying something different. So take it up with her. I do not see her beefing right now with anyome but the Revolution. We are not actually discussing Kirk or anyone else.

No it isn't. They asked that she be kept away from them at Paisley Park. That is not banning.

Kirk and other Paisley Park employees that Jill Jones actually named and said were behind it are the ones.

This all was covered in a different thread previously.

Who cares? With respect, Brown Mark and Jill Jones are footnotes. W & L need to move on, though. They're much more interesting when they write and and perform their own music.

You do not know that anything that Mark is saying is true. He already got caught in one lie because he pretends to not know why she was mad and he certainly knows and then when she lets it be known he blocks her so I guess they will not be discussing anything will they.

You do not know these people to know if they are being truthful stop acting like you do. I am going by their actual actions. Even going back to Alan Leeds saying that he knew W&L would get fired after Parade tour because they kept threating to quit every other day.

I think Prince was difficult but he was also the boss and you do not argue with your boss.

I kind of replied to the wrong post here...but her having unresolved issues with Prince being the motivation for her lashouts at Revolution is what I meant to refer to here...

She can't have beefs with Prince's associates that aren't PRince's fault? Liner notes after he is dead? Paisley park post-Prince decisions? Depictions of Prince's image/musical knowledge by his assoicates? How are her issues with these things his fault?

She talked to him before he died, and a recently published interview with Jill that was written right before Prince died was completely positive about him.

Brownmark saying 'We' in his first tweet to Jill as if being the spokesperson for the whole group says it all. That usually means all against one. If she perceived to be or even has been excluded by the rest of the group at any point, it is only fair that she speaks out about it. Her response was made publicly simply because people had already seen what Brownmark had said plus if he blocked her, what other choice did she have... There is always two sides to every story.

As for those who are not interested in this thread, please remember that you are entirely free to visit another one, thanks.

Why was there never any issue prior to that moment?

I suspect, that her reaction was similar to Cat's reaction @ Sheila E's BET tribute, and she was upset that she wasn't there dancing with the band [Housequake dance she cheorgraphed]

.
Jill talked about it. I actually talked to her on the phone. It goes way beyond Prince or the Revolution. And has something to do with some situations when she was young and feelings of exclusion.

.
When the Revolution performed in 2012 @ First Avenue she didn't seem to have a problem with it.

When part of the band got back together the next year + Andre Cymone... nothing from Jill.
When part of the band got back together the next year + Apollonia... nothing from Jill

.

Prince dies 2016 (Prior to this Prince and Jill recently spoke at Denise Matthews (funeral) and on the phone)) prior to this Prince had totally cut off communications as of 1990. Railroaded her 2nd album, never reached out when her mother or uncle died etc. How he told her she had no charisma and should get a boob job. She did an interview in 2011(I believe) where she talks about a lot of this. And even then it was clear she had serious unresolved feelings and question in connection to Prince.
.
The Revolution had nothing to do with Jills relationship with Prince nor her follow-up album or career. They performed together in 2002 @ Sheila E's Charity Family Jamm show...she did Mia Bocca and another song backed by the Revolution. In March 2016 W&L posted a photo of Jill Jones and Lisa Coleman I believe and someone wrote something like 'love her album such wasted talent'... W&L replied We love Jill, she hasn't wasted her talent, she still makes music.

.

Jill Jones prior to Sept 2016 never bitch or moaned about the Revolution. And even in her rant that fateful Sept weekened, when you read it, it is clearly about Prince.

.

But you have to reach out (not to the masses in cyberspace) but to the individual(s) if you want to be connected or let people know you do. Because if you think about it, everyone has been out there doing their own thing. Of course the Time members are going to be close/in touch, of course the Revolution members are going to be close/in touch...this is including Sheila E and the Family members (he who will have friends must first show himself friendly). Jill Jones should have/could have reached out to Prince long before 2016 -even then it was Prince who reached out to her. When she did that 2011 interview that was extremely raw with unresolved issues, she needed to call Prince and find closure. Because it was clearly not closed. I was on her FB page years leading up 2016 and the lashing out at Prince was real. When you take side with disturbed Sinead OConnor, going so far as comparing Prince to Chris Brown, there are some real issues there.

.

The finality of death, causes things to come out of people that they didn't know were there. You can no longer 'make it right' with the dead. This is why we all have heard various proverbs and sayings about not waiting to give someone flowers when they die, to not let the sun go down on your wrath, to not go to be angry with someone you love etc

.
Jill prior to 2016 would lash out @ Prince. You can read some of the thread here on the Org. Jill post 2016 never lashed out @ Prince, because she would be crucified. I did see a FB feed thing she did a few months ago, and there were questions asked, like about her 2nd album and such and you could hear her almost about to go in on it, but she would pull back.

.

I believe if they connect (OFFLINE) and just talk, it will be all clear. But it should have never come to this.

It isn't a lie. He knows of Jill Jones lashing out in Sept 2016, but even that is not the reason.
The blocking obviously came after Sept 2016 lashing out. Jill Jones and BrownMark were FB friends up to that point. If someone starts cussing me out and bad mouthing me and friends, they will get a block to. Say you wouldn't do the same.

BrownMark should have never posted this openly. We don't need to hear anymore, just resolve any issues the way it should be (face to face/voice to voice)

.

The rest of your post about Alan W&L the boss etc has nothing to do with what I'm talking about.
Jill Jones also was bitchy on the GB movie set and Prince was clearly pissed with her and cut her off, not to mention she no longer believed in what was happening musically with her album and quit. JJ's issues with Prince go this far back. And some of it is reasonable. The Revolution had nothing to do with blocking JJ's 2nd album of music or banning her from Paisley Park.

I knew all this already. I know what she said prior to Pronce’s death. I also know that she did not badmouth him in the last interview before his death (in publication was postponed) The Revolution has the power more now than ever to shape the narrative where Prince’s musical history is concerned. Their musical reunion and playing of obscure material means much more now that he is dead than when he was alive. If she believes they are screwing her over now, she has the right to say,

I said If she believes they are leaving her out of the narrative in liner notes (for example) she has a right to say so. I am done with this discussion because the idea that she might have genuine issues with people whose name are not Prince is something you won’t consider. Yes she had issues with prince and may still have them but that is not the point IMO.

What Narrative? She is talking about things more than they are, doing podcast interviews etc. I don't remember Jill talking about Revolution membes or anyone else outside of her and Prince when talking about the music...

.

Liner Notes of the Purple Rain Deluxe? They had nothing to do with that. The Liner Notes in the PR deluxe overall are the same notes Prince produced. Not the Revolution. And for the rest of the songs, that was just a rush job on the part of those releasing it. After it was released Lisa Coleman stated that the people who were involved in the music should be a part of the reissue on further projects.

.

Also Lisa Coleman in the PR Deluxe when talking about Baby I'm A Star clearly stated Prince had her and Jill Jones, come back into the studio to do some more vocals on the song. You do have they PR Deluxe? It is there for everyone to read. But this still isn't any Liner Notes, just rememberance of the times.

Still a shame they can't get along. Their recent performance of 'All Day, All Night' is great, but sorely missing Jill's vocals.

I meant the interviews in PR deluxe. Professionally, it would be much better for her to work with these folks and just play ball and to attribute all the problems privately to Prince. So she either has a problem with THEM or they with her.

I think it is clear that the have problems with each other from the social media post. They should not have tried to separate her at PP. Jill cannot reach out to someone when they block her.

I suspect these issues go back to when Jill was dating Prince and Susan was seeing him as well.

Beliefs vs Facts

.

I meant the interviews in PR deluxe. Professionally, it would be much better for her to work with these folks and just play ball and to attribute all the problems privately to Prince. So she either has a problem with THEM or they with her.

Jill was not excluded in anything about the PR deluxe commentary by the Revolution.

.

It is still her projecting her issues with Prince onto them. It's out there, it's out there now.

.

Just like the stuff she said about Prince. Reach out to people if they mean anything in private, prublicly it doesn't help your brand. Just like the stuff even she said would get her on the outs with Paisley Park. She said this way before that PP Tribute show in 2017, that the stuff she was saying against the Estate and PP would get her on the outs. Then when it does, people blame the Revolution. Even though Kirk is very connected with Paisley Park, and she went after him too.

.

I sooo love JJ LadycabDriver the Pink Fox etc and just wish this all didn't play out like it did so openly

Jill, post 2016, never lashed out @ Prince, because she would be crucified. I did see a FB feed thing she did a few months ago, and there were questions asked, like about her 2nd album and such and you could hear her almost about to go in on it, but she would pull back.

.

I believe if they connect (OFFLINE) and just talk, it will be all clear. But it should have never come to this.

purplerabbithole said:

I kind of replied to the wrong post here...but her having unresolved issues with Prince being the motivation for her lashouts at Revolution is what I meant to refer to here...

She can't have beefs with Prince's associates that aren't PRince's fault? Liner notes after he is dead? Paisley park post-Prince decisions? Depictions of Prince's image/musical knowledge by his assoicates? How are her issues with these things his fault?

She talked to him before he died, and a recently published interview with Jill that was written right before Prince died was completely positive about him.

OF4S's post above is so on point. Gets right to the crux of this complex mess. Jill is misdirecting her emotions- anger, hurt and frustration at the wrong people and places, and it's creating bigger problems than she or anybody else needs to deal with. It's only piling more hurts on top of old pain. It makes me very sad that these folks can't sit together, or speak over the phone at least, and work out whatever issues they have with each other...or, if they're friends whatsoever now, or ever were at one time or another during their amazing pasts together, it'd be my hope they'd WANT to do this. Lashing out, angry accusations, aren't going to accomplish healing..IF that's what anybody (Jill, Cat, etc) even want. Only talking this stuff out, in private, will do it.

Not true. Jill has said that Prince came to her and told her he was engaged to Susannah and was going to continue to see Jill but that could not see each other in public anymore. He put her up in apartment in NYC. She said he started flying her out on the road to see him and she even visted him in Paris after Susannaha was sent back to MN. Associates saw her around and started to figure out that she was still in the picture. I believe she bring this up in this interview.

I believe she talks about this in this interview. She said a lot to Mike Dean as well.

Yes, and she most likely will. This is all very sad and beyond heartbreaking. I'm sorry Jill has so many unresolved issues with Prince. She is hurting and having all these emotions built-up inside her is beyond frustrating. I sincerely wish her peace and hope they can all come together and stop this nonsense. Because really, at the end of the day, it's not worth it. We are only on this earth for a short time. Prince is gone, and we all miss him and we all feel like we didn't have enough time with him. sad

The Revolution had NOTHING to do with Jills relationship with Prince nor her follow -up album or career.

.

Susannah Melvoin does not equal the Revolution. Technically during that period, she was still with the Family.
.
But Jill was seeing Prince at the same time of Sheila E, and Devin. So even that cannot be put on Susannah. Not to mention Susannah left Prince Decemeber 1986. He got engaged to Sheila E during the SOTT period and she was living with him. So do we blame Sheila E now? or do wie blame Jills current friend Anna Garcia ie Anna Fantastic, or who about the EuroAsian woman Cat said Prince started seeing in 1987 who is at the beginning of the SOTT movie? or maybe actress Troy Breyer?

.

Let's go further back before Susannah... Vanity. Did Jill get in the way of Vanity's relationship with Prince. In the song Samuelle(1984) which is about Prince she refers to Marilyn who is Jill Jones

.

Samuelle,do you belong to Marilyn?
I know she could never love your heart like me
I'm quite sure we belong together
Oh Samuelle, you cannot tell a lie
it echoes across the moon and the sky

.

or was Vanity in Jills way? Didn't Prince have Vanity & Jill living in his house at the same time for a period?
Jill recently 'playfully?' lamented that why couldn't it be her who filled Vanity's spot in Purple Rain.

.

Ok seriously in 1987 Jill and Prince were still 'intimately' connected? Even though he was engaged to Sheila E and moved her in his home [just like he did with Susannah in 1986]

.

or maybe again Anna Fantastic 1988-89 or maybe it was Madonna or Robin Power or maybe Elisa Fiorillo (he did have JJ lip sync to Elisa's vocals in the movie and he had a little fling with her too) or maybe Mayte 1991 and Carmen Electra since he focused on Carmens career and derailed JJ's 2nd album of music

.

Jill Jones' role in the Graffiti Bridge movie was originally much larger than what she ended up playing. Kim Basinger was intended as the original lead in the movie, but when she and Prince parted company shortly before filming began, Prince simply combined Kim's and Jill's parts together and gave them to Ingred Chavez. Jill was then given a much smaller role as Prince's girlfriend.

While flying to Minneapolis to film the movie, Jill read the revamped script and began to tear it up and started to throw pages all around the cabin. Jill retired to the bathroom while her PA had to walk around the plane asking fellow passengers for pages of the script back.

Jill later said that if she had not been on the plane already she would have turned right round and returned home.

Jill did turn up in Minneapolis but she refused to talk to Prince on the set of Graffiti Bridge. In fact she refused to communicate with anyone except in French. Prince got upset and told Jill "If you don't smile and act better round here, then this is your replacement," and then showed Jill a photograph. Jill replied "Oh, an old girlfriend?" She stayed to complete the film but her relationship with Prince was never the same.

.

the Revolution had nothing to do with Jills relationship with Prince nor her follow-up album(which was 1988 -1990 period) nor her career.

I used to think that Prince and I would have been friends during the duration, during our whole lives. Because we had a really strong friendship... You can be with people for 10, 12 years, it's phases of your life, you just close the book and you just put it on the shelf. So, it's so bizarre when people ask anything about him, it was just a phase in my life. It's nothing in particular, it's just my point of view of certain phase in my life. It's always in retrospect. I used to say, when I got older, if I was on the Swiss Alps and I was milking cows, there would be somebody that would come across the hill that asked about Prince!

.

The album was dead in the water. Then, I went to a function and I think I was crying. A Warner Brothers executive (Rob Dickens, CEO of Warner Brothers UK) saw me and he put money into the project to do promotion in Europe. We made the (music) video (for the single "Mia Bocca")...They (Europeans) always liked Josephine Baker, that whole thing always worked. I was discriminated against in my own country. I opened for Jody Watley in LA and, seriously, the crowd just stood there whole time with their arms crossed. I was angry dancing. I was singing “G-Spot” and I was like “I'm not going to shake my ass.” I know (on past tours) I would go out in my bra and panties, but, then I put on my trench coat and I'd leave. I just threw the mike down and walked off the stage. Prince came to me and said “is that it, are you done?” Maybe he created the diva in me.
I think the album was a very intellectual album. We made a decision to take a lot of the poppy songs off. Once Clare Fisher puts the strings on it... I wanted to leave them on... That's where I sealed my fate to never have a hit record...(Prince) could have given me "The Glamorous Life". Sheila E. would come to the studio to play basketball and I did not know that the child was going in (to the studio) late at night and singing the songs...

.

The second album... My mother passed away in '95. When she was diagnosed in cancer in '94, I had a deal with London Records. Steve Fargnoli hooked me up with them. My contract expired with Prince in 1993 on April 15... which I remember because it was seven years to the day. When my mom passed...I didn't want to sing. I don't think I handled it as professionally as I should have. I wrote a letter to my manager that said “You're just too busy going through the corporate world, because you don't know what the fuck you're doing.” And I faxed it. And we were dropped...

.

We (Jones and Prince) were kind of were at two different roads. The song (“Boom Boom”) was from 1982 and it seemed forced. He kept remixing it. I went to do the video, but, it was late, it was too late. And I just ended up going back to New York, got married and waited until my contract expired. During this time he called me-- and I was at a friend's house-- and said, "you don't have any charisma, you should dye your hair black and you need to get breast implants like Brigitte Nielsen." I was furious... Dickens (CEO of Warner Brothers UK) was instrumental at one point with Roger Davies, my manager, when we were trying to complete my second album alone. Without Prince. But, Prince rejected every attempt we tried.

.

I want to know how to stop over analyzing and to kind of just not take things so personally anymore.

.

Ten years. Ten Years (emphasis added). Wasted. Yeah, ten years wasted. And I don't think fondly of these ten years, the ten years that I'm thinking of... But, I got a good song out of it.

.
