Adonis & Bathsheba

I believe this one is a masterpiece! anyone agree? The guitar in this one has so much feeling IMO. Makes me think how I could sometimes understand why Prince held things back (other times I did not) The masses just cannot dig songs like this. But it has atmosphere, tells a story and the lush musical textures resonate with me.

I've always liked it. The guitar work is exquisite.i don't get why Susan rogers laughed at it when she first heard it

When I heard this I went from a lifelong fan to a super fan and dedicated vault seeker. It Proved to me that the vault can and does include treasures.

When they talk about 3-5 albums worth from that period

I hear an album that includes: Adonis & Bathsheba, Go, Splash, (Eggplant),

they have a very similar vibe and sound

What's the matter with your life
Is poverty bringing U down?
Is the mailman jerking U 'round?
Did he put your million dollar check
In someone else's box?
Tell me, what's the matter with your world

Not sure about Eggplant but those others go nicely together. I would add Wally as well.

I think it's one of the best things he ever did. Not sure what Susan Rogers was on, but I think this song is totally elevated in his canon because of just how unashamedly flamboyant and ridiculous it is. Would've been a sweet addition to Parade or Dream Factory.

It would have been a sweet B-side to "Girls & Boys." biggrin

I don't know what I was listening to previously. This song sounds totally different to me, now. The guitar solo is epic. It would be awesome if the Estate included this song on a Parade Deluxe. It sounds like that '86 era!

It would be cool, if it was on an album with Go and Splash, too.

This is one of his best songs. The act of sex perfectly captured by music. It could have no words, and you could still hear the sex. A glorious and magical song.

As I have said in the million other threads about this, if Alexa de Paris and Adore had a baby, it'd be Adonis and Bathsheba.

I mean if he did have sex he would break every rule Jehova's have regarding premarital sex so Prince is really just friends with them all anyway.
