This pretty much nails it.

Yes, midwesterners are very conservative.

Van gets called names but Susan speaks gospel and is believed beyond a shadow.

I think you have another reason for not wanting to believe her. Something probably better left unsaid.

i do not have any reason not to like her but i must be noted that if we are gonna make Van prove himself why would we not make her do the same. Seems fair. i have nothing against Susan or Van.

May they both be able to speak their truths without being called names. One can choose to believe them or not but to call them creepy or "seemingly" well read is low. imo

SNIP - OF4$ When did Prince say he did not take an aspirian? He complained of migraine headaches and took them all the time. He even took one in front of reporter when he did an interview with the Irish Times.

He had a surgical procedure he took drugs.

There's an interview with a Scandanavian guy where he asks Prince if he takes anything for when he's sick, or has headaches, or whatever. Prince goes into some spiel about never having to take anything. See where we are with all this? Everything with Prince was contradictory. He was on the left, he was on the right. He was all things. Maybe he did not think it was any of that guy's business. He did not put his personal business out in the street. Also when M1 talked about his migranie headaches in her book this would have been 20 years ago. The have different things you can do to stop migrains now and if he did have a seziure problem he was not going to share that with the world.

Sometimes I thhnk fans forget entertainers need to have insurance taken out on them to perform.

None of them are going to be sharing their healht issues with the whole world.

Prince did not have a press conference when he started to have hip problems. Do you think he would have been getting a million a show if he did?

I judge people on how they live not how they died. I could drink a massive amount of alcohol and drop dead and not be an alcoholic. We have no detail whatsoever about what was going with Prince but tabloid fodder after two years. IF he was some raving pill head we would have heard more stories by this time especially from the greedy ass associaties he had around him. What have we heard about his drug habits? Nothing.

Van Jones I believe is a caring person, but, I have to think that Prince ddn't like his involement with the government being a JW. That being said, I would hope even though Prince may not have follwed so closely with that involvement, that he would know in his heart of hearts, that a man or a women have to get on their own two feet and live their life. We just do not all have handouts from the government, and now in the US, the sky is the limit. Listen and observe, and hope that we never have these freedoms taken away. Believe me, it could happen with the lefts view of socialism! No one has help except for the EXTREME RICH.

Yup, Van comes across as a kind-hearted soul to me too.

I’m not sure I’m understanding your post very well, but I’ll share some of my thoughts on some general topics you have mentioned briefly.

Sadly I can’t provide any profound insight or answers, but I’m not so sure I really understand why a socialist government per se is written off so widely as being such a negative possibility.

I feel like the older I get, and the more I have travelled, the more poverty I have seen (in pretty much every country), and the more firmly it bends my political leanings towards the left.

To me it increasingly seems to me that right wing governments are serving some folks very well indeed, but not very many folks indeed so very well.

Some poor folks are in a really bad way, often through no fault of their own, and need a helping hand to ‘get on their own two feet and live their life’, as you put it. There but for the grace of God go I. I don’t believe there can be anything wrong with government handouts to provide aid to those who are genuinely in need.

If I thought for a moment that human nature/mindset could be changed and folks at large would adopt a more altruistic outlook (and in particular that the rich would temper their pursuit of material gain and worldly status, and give generously to the under privileged), then there may well be precious little need for government intervention on behalf of the needy.

Alas, of course unfortunately that is not the world we live in. I fear that the majority of the greedy aren’t likely to take the needy to their hearts any time soon. The onus isn't solely on the rich to redress the balance of course, but they have the material means to make the most significant impact. Jesus once said that we will always have the poor with us (and sadly he wasn’t kidding), but I believe that doesn’t relinquish one iota of our individual and collective responsibility to help those in dire need.

Surely a civilized society should be looking to do all it can to help the needy and protect those who are vulnerable. The sheer scale of the disparity between the haves and the have nots is beyond disquieting. It can’t be disputed and imho it shouldn’t be ignored or its import belittled.

Many charities do their admirable utmost to make a difference in poor folks’ lives, but we still have significant poverty in western countries, never mind the appalling abject poverty suffered by many living in the so called ’developing countries’.

It’s not so long ago that the World Bank was estimating that over three quarters of the world’s population were having to survive on ten bucks or less a day, which is pretty mind boggling to me.

I appreciate that socialism seems to have long since gone out of fashion, and I’m not entirely sure what you mean by the phrase ‘hope that we never have these freedoms taken away’, but from a purely personal perspective I’d like to see the more affluent and powerful governments looking for ways to adopt a more equitable organization and distribution of resources and wealth both within their own communities, and the wider world at large.

The practicalities and details of such organization and administration are way beyond my meagre imagination and even more limited capabilities, but I’d like to think there have got to be folks with integrity about in politics that are smart, dedicated, and determined enough to have a shot at making it work. Well, it's nice to dream sometimes. wink

someone's interesting take on all this:

Jay Z is a liar and a drug dealer. Prince broke away from Jay Z business wise at least a year or so prior to death once Tidal got into the huge lawsuit which was causing Tidal to fold and go defunct.. therefore Prince broke away and was posting his new music online via his new male and female proteges ( kids) on Tidido to stream all his music instead....Prince's estate also found out that Jay Z turned in a fraudulent contract to stream Prince music on Tidal after his death and that Jay Z did not pay Prince once cent for steaming the music even when Prince was alive ... Prince never gave Jay Z his vaulted music or music like that and the former Prince payrolled employee,Van Jones needs to stop kissing celebs behinds like that for a come up. Van obvoiusly wasn't as close to Prince as he wanted to be because Prince obvoiusly kept him at a certain distance and left him out of aspects of his life ...

.

I don't trust JayZ or Van Jones; they are both phony and opportunists. Van likes to prop himself up on a pedestal like he is the authority of everything PRINCE. Gimme a break!! I think JayZ was trying to get all of Prince's music, so he could cash-in. JayZ never cared about Prince or his legacy.

Especially Jay Z. He's a known snake. He only cares about the money.

No, partying in my experience was hard exhausting fun it just means going out, staying up late dancing

parties and dancing no problem

even though I don't think it was that acceptable to be in the club on saturday and in the choir on sunday.

But say going to clubs house parties drinking smoking getting drunk sex(outside of marriage) and then going to church the next day...preaching teaching singing holy songs

...what would Jesus say?

Or are you just talking about people who were not disciples of Christ who went to church because it was just what they did-traditionally?

My brother worked with Devante (Swing) back in the 90s Da Basement years...he saw things at the recording sessions and parties on Saturday. He also saw the pastors daughter and the chior director sneaking in.
