If the studio Extraloveble is eventually released on some format, I'll buy this boxed set. Until that day, I'll take a pass on the whole thing and keep my money.

It is what it is, but they lost my business.

Peace, Estate.

Yeah, odd stance indeed. This set is still packed with goodies and a huge step up from anything that the Estate have released before. To throw a tantrum about one or two tracks that didn't make the cut feels pretty entitled.

In my opinion, next song release b4 November 29th, might B one of disc 2. Indeed, as of today, one song has been picked up from a disc. biggrin

Glad by the way because wait is 2 long.

The December issue of UK music monthly Long Live Vinyl has a Prince album in its list of "The Essential Double Albums", as well as a two-page review of "1999 Deluxe" (though granted the second page is a hige photo). That release is also their pick of the month when it comes to re-releases.

French review of Bold Generation from muziq.fr. It seems to share many similarites with New Power Generation, as suspected, being the first version of the song.

God damn I cannot wait to hear this one. I've always loved New Power Generation so this has me so hyped. I'd imagined that he was stretching out "bold" on the chorus - "We are the boooold generation" - like the reviewer says and I could imagine that having a bit less punch than what it came to be. But damn! What a trip to know he was thinking so far ahead. Or rather, that he looked so far into the past during the GB sessions. Something about these songs stuck with him for 8 damn years.

He Compares Money Don't Grow on Trees to When You Were Mine and I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man.

Two of my favourite songs so I think this could possibly be a highlight for me.

Worth noting that on the released version of New Power Generation on GB, there is a sung line at the end by one of the female singers that says "gotta rearrange", perhaps a reference to the song Rearrange too.

He also specifically mentions "We all got to rearrange our brains" and the "Pardon me for living, this is my world" lines in Can't Stop. Of note, Prince Vault says Prince pulled Rearrange out in 1988 to be remixed. So at the time, it is clear that Prince had been itching to do something with Can't Stop, Rearrange, and Bold Generation.

God I dunno, I always thought it sounded like a slightly more grownup version of the Captain Planet theme tune.

We're the NPG, and you an be one too
Because DMSR is what we do

I suppose I still like it - have the maxi-single and all - but i'm mostly laughing at it, rather than with it. It's just the lamest gang song.

Yes - unless you counted Sexy Dancer as an instrumental (which it kind of is? IDK if it counts as it does have some repeated vocals). Full on instrumental though, yeah.

Curious to hear how they will sound, probably much rawer and less over produced! Let's hope it'll be like the nice surprise of We Can Fuck which was amazing.

I've got the vinyl and the cd super deluxe set on pre-order. I don't know if I should keep them both. Are there any pros to keeping the vinyl over the cd or vice versa?

I must've overlooked this previously, but this version of No Call U is a minute and a half longer than what's already out there? Or was a longer version of No Call U leaked recently and I totally missed it...?
