For those of you who don't already have George Clinton's Chocolate City London P-Funk Live at Metropolis set (an amazing set that includes vinyl,CDs and DVD all in the same package!),discogs has several copies (NEW and sealed) for only $50....much cheaper than the prices you find elsewhere which tend to be around $100 or more.

Anybody check out these Instant Live CD sets? I ordered both from Discogs smile Image result for instant live george clinton atlanta

Audio from atl leaves a little to be desired but it's decent. We were at this gig and I kid you not at the end of atomic dog this massive thunderstorm broke out and blew over the instant live tent just as I was ordering a copy lol.

Beware the Portland set is minus the horn section who were out with Raphael Sadig at that time I think. Interesting to hear the songs with no brass though.

A friend of mine picked this one up at the actual Uncle Jam Tour and still has his copy. An alternate mix of this is found on Family Series "P is the Funk" version. That one has more backing vocals in it.
IMHO this is a steal for what they are asking for it on eBay. Maybe they don't know what they've got?

Be careful. Several are available in different countries with different track listings. Same with that 4 disc live set and Dope Dogs.

speaking of Dope Dogs,is that album any good? I have never heard that one (yet)

I love it so much. Of course, it came out when I was a relatively new fan, so I wasn't in a position yet to be all judgy about the amount of sampling of the catalogue present.

I would jump at a "deluxe edition" of this that included everything from all the different versions.

This and Axiom Funk bust my funk-nut every time... music

I agree. Axiom Funk is excellent. Plays like a long lost Funkadelic album complete with Pedro artwork too. Another from Laswell's Black Arc series worth picking up is Billy Bass' OG Funk disc.

and here it is,the original one that your friend picked up at that 1979 concert.I actually prefer the other version, with the vocals. That version was recorded in 1976.

True dat. I first got the Japanese version then had to get both the US and UK to get all the tracks. Then there is a disc with beaucoup mixes of the title track. Toss in the rare Police Doggy EP for good measure as well.

Curious, what are the beaucoup mixes!? I've got the Japanese, US and UK versions but this is the first I've heard of there being a fourth edition...

Somewhere about late 93 into 94, GC trotted out the single US Custom Ocast Guard Dope Dog. He came on Donnie Simpson with it and was selling it at the merch table. It has I forget how many mixes of the song on it. Maybe 10 or 11. It pops up on eBay from time to time. Do you know about the Police Doggy EP also?

Indeed! It's a beautiful country, made all the better by their keen interest in all things P-Funk! Had such a good time record shopping there. Could have happily stayed longer if not for the fact my partner was pregnant at the time - so plenty of impulse buys and missed opportunitues!

I think that this is one of the best latter-day P-Funk jams.I prefer this remix over the 'regular' version. It's a good thing that the CD included both versions smile
